WEDDINGS and PRIVATE EVENTS

David Solid Gould and the Temple Rockers is a 10-piece band performing original roots reggae, dub and ska music inspired by traditional Hebrew and Yiddish melodies. The group features some of the players in the Northeast US including members of John Brown’s Body, Jsan and the Analogue Sons, Thousands of One, Revision, and Sophistafunk.

In addition to gigging throughout the northeast, the Temple Rockers are available to play Jewish weddings and will bring traditional Jewish wedding music with a reggae vibe as well as roots reggae, ska, dub and rocksteady. The Temple Rockers appeals to young, hip couples while also pleasing mom and dad.

The Temple Rockers are the brainchild of David “Solid” Gould, who began composing the music while on the road playing bass with John Brown’s Body (1997 to 2002). Gould started combining the Hebrew melodies he heard as a child with Jamaican reggae music. In 2001, David released his first album “Adonai and I” on I-Town Records. Soon after, Adonai in Dub was released by Tzadik Records. Both albums have sold more than 3,000 copies.

After taking a break from recording and gigging in 2004, David Solid Gould and the Temple Rockers (formerly A&I) started performing live again in the spring 2009 to rave reviews. Their shows bring together audiences young and old, Jewish and gentile.

In addition, Gould spent the early part of 2009 recording the new album “Feast of the Passover.” Scheduled for release in October of 2009 on John Zorn’s Tzadik Records, “Feast of the Passover” features Jamaican legends Leonard “Sparrow” Dillon of the Ethiopians and the vocal harmony group the Silvertones, and the Romanian saxophone player Yuri Yunakov. Feast of the Passover will be available all over the world!
