FEAST of the PASSOVER released on TZADIK RECORDS!

The Reggae master from 'Adonai in Dub' returns to Tzadik with another fascinating program of Jewish music- Reggae style. FEAST OF THE PASSOVER is a collection of songs commonly sung during the Passover seder and features many of David's associates, the critically-acclaimed Romanian saxophone player Yuri Yunakov, the legendary Leonard "Sparrow" Dillon (of the Ethiopians) and the Silvertones on vocals. David Solid Gould is emerging back onto the international live scene with his band. Check the calendar for regional dates starting in Ithaca on Tue April 7th. We will also be opening for Giant Panda Guerilla Dub Squad and John Brown's Body on selected spring and summer tour dates in the Northeast.

David just recently returned from my first trip to Jamaica and had the wonderful opportunity to go into the studio with Leonard "Sparrow" Dillon the Ethiopian, and The Silvertones. They sang on three tracks on the upcoming Feast of the Passover record which will be complete and ready to be mixed at the end of March.

The new record will feature The Ethiopians, The Silvertones, and Romanian sax player Yuri Yunakov, as well as an all-star cast of musicians from the Northeast US

NEW ALBUM IN PRODUCTION

 

The new record is in production! Rhythm tracks are slated to be recorded in Boston at Heartbeat Records Studio on Sat Jan 31 and Sun Feb 1.

"Feast of the Passover" will be released some time in 2009 (hopefully late spring or summer) and the band will be performing live starting in April.

The new record features the great Romanian saxophone player Yuri Yunakov as well as an all-star cast of musicians, including:

I have finally posted some music that has been sitting around for a few busy years. I am planning on releasing a lot more original music (new and old) online in the coming months including demo tracks from a new "Adonai and I" record in process to be titled "Feast of the Passover"

-4 tracks from the interview I conducted with LEONARD DILLON "THE ETHIOPIAN" on June 18, 2008 at my studio in advance of the show we performed together in Ithaca on June 20, 2008 as part of Ithaca Fest.

- 2 unreleased tracks from the NEWFIELD SESSIONS from 2004-2005 which feature special guests Jhakeem HAltom from Thousand of One, Craig Fujita from PRessure Cooker and "Adonai and I" and Nate Silas Richardson from many projects.

- 7 tracks (6 unreleased) from the ROOTS ROXBURY Sessions that spanned the years 1998-2002 - These are my first experiments with lo-fi analogue recording- I combine soul/funk/jazz with Dub music at a time in my own growth when I was discovering Jamaican styles of music while having played funk and soul bass for years.

- 2 live tracks from THE BOARD OF EDUCATION performing live at the Middle East in Cambridge, MA in 1997-1998

- 1 track of RYTH MCFEUD performing a TRAFFIC cover with special guest TREY ANASTASIO on guitar- 1991- Ann Arbor, MI

Fresh Roots Radio offers a thematic presentation of recorded music from Jamaica covering the early 1960's through the early 1980s. Genres covered include Reggae, Rocksteady, Ska, Mento, Dub Music, DJ Style. The themes for each show are specific and adventurous and explore Jamaican music from various angles- tracking specific musicians, backup bands, producers and record labels a through a chronology of recordings. There are also genre focuses and a number of other themes including vocal trios from the 1970s, The Women of Reggae,. Horns of Jamaica, and many more.

There is a real flow to the show as songs cut into each other with rhythmic perfection- it's a refreshing experience.
